There are three degrees of ability:
- I can't.
- I can, but I do it with effort.
- I am a master, I do it without even thinking.
- Deliberate exercises – the only way to consciously accumulate skills and knowledge, in which something concrete is practiced in several short sessions with the aim of achieving high reliability of performance.
- Sensory impact – by exposing ourselves to many high-quality examples, we use the brain's ability to subconsciously find patterns and learn good practices.
- Immediate feedback – which allows us to adjust our performance in the desired direction and creates additional motivation to continue.
The speaker
Dimiter is a usability consultant and an interface and interaction designer. He has been developing information since 1997. An optimist, he still believes that software might be usable.
He has changed many professional hats, starting as a translator. After that, as a technical writer, he used to explain to users how the software worked and how they were supposed to use it. He then learned to do user research, so that he can understand what stands in the way of users and what they are missing. It was not enough, so he started designing interfaces that are understandable and easy to use without instructions.
Today, Dimiter is still working in the area of usability and user experience improvements. He is helping his colleagues and customers optimize their products for use and thus reduce losses related to disappointed users and cut unnecessary costs.
